Hi all,

I first met Gadi several years ago when I had an offical trip to Isreal.
Currently I am a director of Taiwan national CERT (ICST a.k.a. TWNCERT). We
deal with a lot of email social engineering attacks for our governement.
Some of our experiences are shared in an article we submiited to FIRST
conference (http://www.first.org/conference/2008/contest.html).

Subject: [psysec] Introduction

Hi all,

I figured I should send a quick intro to the list, since everyone else is
doing it.

I've been in the security industry for about 12 years now, and have spent
much of my career focused on penetration testing and vulnerability research.
At the same time, I have always been interested in how to influence those
around me, and started studying it in earnest in about 2003, when I came to
believe that social engineering would be the next significant wave of
attacks.

For the past couple of years, I have spoken repeatedly on social engineering
and its importance at security conferences, and am in the (rather slow and
behind my deadlines) process of writing a book on how to perform social
engineering attacks effectively.

I'm most excited about an upcoming class that I'll be delivering with Chris
Nickerson on social engineering in a couple of weeks:
http://www.chicagocon.com/2009s/semasterclass.html. As far as I know, it's
one of the first of its kind (I think Mitnick is the only other to do a full
5-day class on it). If anybody is going to be in the Chicago area, let me
know. :-)

-Mike
