Without a copy of the 1,000-page tome it seems difficult to answer, but that is the exact question that popped to mind after reading your initial note.
If I am going to be demonized for *considering* things then I can be pretty easily demonized by anyone. I've considered, pondered and tried arguing for and against most everything at least once. There isn't any way to find the value or flaws of an argument without trying to think through how you would go about defending it.
I know there is nothing new in the politics of hyperbole, but the frantic ranting of voices on the US political right seem to be more extreme and less intelligent than normal. It seemed that the breathless shrilling of the US political left was pretty bad during the Bush years but there just seems to be a whole new level of disingenuous blathering from their opposition today.
