I think the one thing that global warming "debate" (and evolution, and most
other conservative / religion debates) shows is how sever is the lack of science
training and understanding in our education systems, made worse by science
teachers (especially at the primary grades) who themselves nearly completely
lack a true understanding of both science fact and method.

With such an abysmal public understanding of science, it is no wonder that
politicians, hucksters (e.g., Rush Limbaugh), and religions leaders are able to
invent "facts" and twist public opinion at will.
